Yesterday, I had the opportunity to see Christmas with the Chosen. This is a phenomenal movie and will be streaming in theatres until December 10th. It will also be released digitally after that date. So if you have a chance to see it, please do. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
One key message in the movie was “People Must Know”. Jesus’s birth was never intended to remain a secret. After the shepherds visited Baby Jesus, Luke 2:20 explains, “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them,” (ESV).
The video for today features For King and Country’s live performance of Go Tell It on the Mountain similar to what they did in Christmas with the Chosen. I’ve always loved this traditional song because it urges us to spread the good news of Jesus.
I don’t know about you, but when you discover something amazing, don’t you want to share it with everyone? Like when a bakery is offering cupcakes for 5 cents or a store is having an incredible sale on boots? I want everyone who desires to do so to be able to take advantage of that amazing news.
Jesus’s birth is good news that extends far beyond a sale or a good health report or a promotion. His birth changed the world. By coming to earth and taking on human flesh, Jesus was able to die on the cross and pay the sacrifice for our sins.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says of Jesus, “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God,” (ESV).
Jesus accomplished for us what no one else could do. The animal atonement sacrifices of old had to be continuously offered, but Jesus’s sacrifices covered the price of sin and death once and for all.
As 1 Peter 3:18 says, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,” (ESV).
So I want to encourage you to spread the hope of the gospel, the good news of Jesus today! People must know.
