Day 9: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing by Pentatonix

“Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” was written in 1738 by the renowned Methodist hymn writer Charles Wesley.

The lyrics are based on the portion of the Christmas story when the angels visit the shepherds, telling them the good news of Jesus’s birth.

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” ~ Luke 2:13-14 (NLT)

Jesus’s birth is great cause of rejoicing.

I especially love the line “God and sinners reconciled”. Jesus came so that we could have a way to be with God. Sin had separated us from having a relationship with God, but through Jesus, that relationship is now restored.

Our sins are forgiven when we ask Jesus! We have a relationship with the Lord of the universe!

No wonder the angels and shepherds were so excited.

I think we should be too.
